I tried the downloads from Intel, but to no avail. I got Everest if you would like to see any portion of that report...would that help you help me? I did not want to go into a long story (over-explain my problem) but maybe you should know:
Sound was out (plus had other non-sound related issues) so I reinstalled XP - sound worked for a few days - sound stopped and got the dreaded error messages - sound 'mysteriously' came back on by itself overnight, then went back out after a few days, giving me the yellow ? once again - bought a new sound card (did not install yet) but did unplug and reseat old card in different slot and reinstalled drivers, and sound worked for a few days after that...sound failed again, tried reseating etc, but this time to no avail...so...I am somewhat at the end of my limited expertise!
Is there anything else you can suggest I try? I am not a complete novice and have put in new harddrives, cards, etc, and can follow direction. If you would care to lead on, I will follow...your skills are ledgendary from what I have seen you do for others, and I hope we can have the same outcome. So what will it be; want to see the Everest report, or should I just start with replacing the soundcard, since I already bought a new one? Sincere thanks and I appreciate any help you can offer.
