Ok Barbara, I've followed your instructions with regard to the chipset drivers, however I have a couple of questions,
is there any way that you can check if the drivers have been suceessfully installed ?.

The reason I ask is that when installing, the progress bar gets to 15% and then the Windows "This software has not passed windows testing" warning appears,
I click on "Continue installation", the warning disappears leaving the install page with the progress bar still at 15%

Five seconds later and without the progress bar going any further that the 15%, the page disappears and thats it, no "Drivers sucessfully installed" / "Please restart computer" or indeed anything of that description, does this sound right ?, just seems a little odd to me, bearing this in mind I have not yet tried to install the audio drivers in case I end up with the dreaded BSOD.

The reason I dont want to try to install the audio drivers without knowing if the chipset drivers are fully installed is that on a couple of previous occasions
(But not every time) and with the machine in its current configuration / settings, when attempting to install the audio drivers, after the inevitable BSOD, I've actually lost my CD ROM-RW drive from "My Computer" and again occasionaly, had quite a bit of difficulty in re-installing it / the drivers for it, dont know if this is associated with the problems with the audio controller drivers but just a little more information that may help,

Thank you and regards,
The Soulman.
