Any suggestions?

Thanks again.

first Your audio plugs must be on the I/O plate for this driver to work, if you use an expansion slot then you have a Sound Card installed, see here, click the image to focus

if they are on the I/O plate you need to check the BIOS to see if audio is set to [Auto] here's how

as soon as comp boots press the <Delete> key
Main menu opens http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...-MX%20Main.JPG

use arrow key to go to Advanced menu
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...20Advanced.JPG

use down arrow to go to PCI Configuration - press Enter
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...I%20Config.JPG

use down arrow key to go to Onboard PCI Devices Control - press Enter
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...%20devices.JPG

use down arrow key to Onboard AC'97 Audio Controller - should be set to [Auto] if [Disabled] use + key to set to [Auto]

press F10 key to Exit & Save changes

y to accept changes

XP will then load

install audio driver again

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions
