Sorry for not replying for a little while (haven't had time) , but I have tried that and my computer still acts strangely-no signs of Agent-L anymore on my computer however the scanner/deletion log provided via the link had some strange things on it:

(This directory is quite strange, seeing as I cannot delete anything in it because 'access is denied'-there is also an update folder in there which I cannot delete as well)

I have been able to rectify the problem as a temporary fix by using the 'welcome' screen on XP, and logging out and back in when the taskbar does not come on
Also, hijackthis comes up empty as well
I'm beginning to think it has to do with the actual hardware in my computer that's causing this problem, seeing as I occasionally get a black screen with 2 pixels in the corners before the log in screen appears
