I asked this question before, and I got the right answer, but muddled results. Basically, I have 2 WD SATA HDDs. One is 250 GB from a laptop and the other is in a Dell small desktop (3.5") size 40 GB.

Why cant I put the small SATA in some kind of bracket, then run it like a desktop SATA? I do not need a SATA to IDE or anything like that.

Because the large SATA uses SATA connection. My CD Rom one day will be a DVDRW (slim dell type)- if I can get one that size that works on the IDE port!
