Tried on my lappy. The saga.....
I dual booted, installed. My display won't run at native resolution. Touchpad taps are not recognised.
Searched for a display driver on Nvidia. Downloaded it. The file ends in "pkg.run". Ok, I assume it's a self installing package. Wrong! I have to use the command line. *thinks* Your not serious?
Open a console, copy the Nvidia provided command line entry.... File not found. Ahh! Of course not, the download directory isn't the shells current dir. Direct sh to the file location... Wrong permissions! *sigh*
With that I rebooted back to XP, deleted the fedora created partitions, rebooted to win 98 floppy, fdisk /mbr. Sanity restored.
Linux command line is a constant source of annoyance on every distro I've tried when all you want is to get the job done. Don't get me wrong, CLI is a cool resource, I used it a lot in my Amiga days, but this is just a driver install. Why all the red tape?
Maybe next time.
