When I shut down my computer and the next morning when I press the power button it shows a green light which flickers for a while but the pc doesn’t turn on - no sound, no nothing. (This light is just on the power button itself. ) The light just keeps blinking. The blinking stops after a few minutes and if I press the power button again, it turns on fine (sometimes it takes two or three tries). But when I shut down the pc again and try to turn it on, the same thing happens.
Its a DELL dimension e510, Pentium D CPU 3.00GHz 2.99HGz, 1.00 GB of ram, 70gig HDD, Windows xp 5.1.
Its barely two years old, someone had a similar problem posted here in 2007 but it wasn't resolved. I am wondering if it is the power supply or the motherboard? And what should I try to do - I am used to shutting down the pc every night but for now I am leaving it on (last two nights). Thanks for any and all suggestions.
