Need help for a similar problem but more complex
Hi ,
I have a DVD/RW in my DELL inspiron 6400 laptop. I do not know if I was able burn DVD with it, but yes I could burn CDs. Earlier I used to be able to open both CDs and DVDs using that drive. But lately I am not able to play/browse DVD, nothing happens !!!!
Problem
=======
Under "My Computer" I see two drives, "DVD R/W (D: )" and "DVD (F: )", but I have only one drive.
When I put in a CD it comes up fine in D:, The drive recognizes the CD and it opens fine.
When I put in a DVD nothing happens, I just some periodic cluck sound and thats it.
When I right click "My Computer" -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> DVD/CD Drive I find there are 2 entires, one has "_NEC....DVD+-RW" this is the DVD drive and the other "DE....... CdRom drive". If I uninstall both the drivers and reboot the laptop both the drivers comeup again.
I do not know what the issue is. If I keep trying to Disable/Uninstall the drivers it works. I am not able to figure out what causes the DVD drive to work.
I HAVE NOT TRIED THE REGISTRY EDITTING PART I READ AS THIS STEP KONKED SOME OF THE SYSTEM THAT USED THIS PROCEDURE.
I have posted this in other issue. As I am not sure in what post it was I am posting it again. Sorry about that.
Regards
