No Audio Device

[quote=bookworm]
1. Go here to HP, under Original drivers - install the chipset - then Restart comp, try the audio driver http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...1 284&lang=en

2. If still no sound check this out, Step 7 to see if audio enabled in the BIOS: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...cname=bph07154

3. Iif you have a XP disc, Try a System File Check go to Run – type “sfc /scannow” (without the quotes and note space after sfc) have Win disc available in case sfc needs to replace or repair any files. The program runs with no alerts and then closes.

Hi
I did step 1 and still no sound. I did step 2 and it was marked automatic, so i changed it to enable. Didn't work, so changed it to disable. Did all of step 7 and 8. Still no luck.

I do not have an XP disc, just an area on a D drive that is meaningless to me.
But I ran sfc and it found nothing.

Back to square 1.

Can a person buy a new motherboard? I have tried a different soundboard (SoundBlaster) with the same lousy results.

Maybe I'm gettinng too old for this stuff.

Thanks

Russ.
