There are so many variables it can be difficult to be accurate from afar.

First EXTRACT the contents of the downloaded driver file to a folder on the hard drive so you can find it later

At this point I would be REMOVING everything I could from the SOUND section in device manager.....some will not be removable..!!ignore them

Once the remainder are gone REBOOT

When the system finds NEW HARDWARE ...DO NOT allow it to automatically install the drivers...POINT IT AT WHERE YOU UNPACKED THE FILES.

Hopefully this will encourage the system to purge what it has that is wrong and utilise the correct drivers....then again it IS windows we are talking about so NOTHING is scared...!!!

Past this I can't offer much that is constructive..sorry
