Okay, I wasn't able to get a hold of a XP disc (my resources are somewhat limited at the moment), so I went ahead and did a destructive system recovery. I had already had most of the files backed up from the previous restore so it turned out to just be a minor inconvenience.
Good news though, I finally got the onboard sound working again!!! I was unable to get the SB Audigy car to work though, but as long as there is sound I don't really care; it makes no difference to my mom weather or not the sound is high-def hehe.
