Cman, I just had the same issue. Here's what you do:
The Zip file isn't needed. After you download the .exe file from HP (link below), just run it and install. When it says it didn't install correctly, just click the "yes it did" option. Then plug the printer into the computer which will pop-up an install option. Do it. When it gets to the option to browse for the driver or disc, select the folder where you installed the HP files from the first install - it was on my C drive, titled "lj1000hb". Say OK once you've highlighted that folder and it will install correctly! Then print something on Vista without buying a new printer!!! Praise the forums!
