You have to run setup software supplied with the router so that it can 'recognise' your modem, and before doing that the two devices must be connected up exactly as shown in the router instructions.

For DSL it's much easier to buy a combined Wirelss Router with built-in Modem. Much less hassle than two separate units.

Make sure the CompUSA router you've already got doesn't have a built-in DSL modem 'cos if it does that's why you're having problems. You can't connect it to a second modem. Just use it on it's own.
