Hi all. Sorry for the bother, but I appear to have a problem that dispite trying to fix it for days it's still bothering me. I've recently rebooted my system and now can't get any sound. All the audio and other devices are freshly installed with the latest drivers I could find. I have had a complete nightmare with this and have finaly cracked it.
Click on Start / Settings / Control Panel / Sound and Audio Devices - Choose the Audio Tab then on the Default device there is a drop down box. Make sure that your Sound card or on-board sound is listed ...mine is: Realtek AC97 Audio ...click on that to make sure it's the one showing in the drop down box.... Do this again for both Sound playback and Sound Recording...When you click back on the Volume Tab you should see that the device is your device you then have the option to Place Volume Icon in the Taskbar....Good Luck
