SVCHOST.EXE at 100% CPU Usage
Using Windows Task Manager (Advanced) in WinXP showed under "Services" that SVCHOST.EXE was using from 99% to 100% of the CPU. Google lead me here and I tried the Task Manager under "Processes" tab. Taking a chance I changed the SVCHOST.EXE to "End Process" by right clicking on it. Apparently something cause it to hang up and grab ahold of the CPU processing and not let go. My system slowed to a crawl for weeks.
The "End Process" will not harm anything and, in effect, release the hold of SVCHOST.EXE on the CPU. What a difference! I'm back up to SPEED!!!!
