I reformatted my Desktop (Compaq SR1720NX) and installed a Microsoft XP SP3...everything was working properly but there was no sound. I checked the speakers' connections and if the volume was ok...and they were...
I went to device manager and noticed that it lists "multimedia audio controller" under "other devices". I tried to look for it in the Compaq website if i can download it but it didn't have any results.

if you need the drivers again this is what you use to find drivers
EL435AA-ABA just copy and paste here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...eC?lc=en&cc=us

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions
