if AC97 is [Enabled] use down arrow key to select - and use + key to change to [Disabled]

press F10 key to Save & Exit

y key to accept changes

XP will load

instal sound card driver again

don't forget the Restore Point

if at any time you need to return to the previous menu press the ESC key

AC97 was already disabled. I tried switching to headphones in case my speakers somehow stopped working, but no sound that way either.
