Monitor frequency too high.
I just installed Windows XP Pro. I am having trouble with setting the monitor frequency on the graphics board. After the installation, on its 1st boot, the system boots with the graphics adapter sending on a frequency that is too high for any monitor I could try. After booting in VGA mode (or Safe mode) I discovered some strange things. First, the display settings said "ATI All-In-Wonder on Dual Monitor". I donīt have 2 monitors and ATI AIW does not support 2 monitors (it only has 1 connector). I checked on the devices tab and found that windows had installed to monitors (Standard Monitor(s)). I also found out that the display settings was set for 60Hz, but when I boot in normal mode no monitor I tried was able to display any image (all responses were Frequency Out of Range). I tried some remedies. 1st I tried uninstalling the 2nd monitor, but that had no effect. Display settings still showed Dual Monitor settings (one being standard monitor the other being blank). I tried changing frequency but that had no effect. I installed the latest video drivers (catalyst and etc) but after booting the problem persisted and, when in safe or vga mode, it showed the drivers where not installed. I installed the motherboardīs latest drivers (VIA Hyperion),. I updated the BIOS. I am confident that the video board is functioning since it was previously installed on a almost similar system and it was working fine. My system is:
Athlon 650 Mhz
Asus A7V-RM mother board
256 Mb, 133 Mhz
ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon
I would appriciate some help.
Thanks
