No sound after XP reinstall

Hi

I have recently reinstalled Windows XP Home on my daughter’s old laptop after she passed it on to her mother. Everything works fine except the sound card. I have downloaded the audio driver from the Samsung website (leo2allosaudio51003622) and installed it. There are no yellow question marks showing in Device Manager and it states that the device is working properly. However, no sound.

Sometime ago (I think December 2005) there was a similar query and the answer given by Gamemaster287 was:

There appear to be problems with WinXp and the viaudio.sys file, version 5.10.0.3622.

Try getting your hands on v5.10.0.3621 which works fine. Also the newer version is not digitally signed by Microsoft but the older one is.’

Can anybody help me to find a copy of this file or advise me what else I can try. I have attached Belarc report below.

Many thanks in hopeful anticipation.

Nigel
