Why he wasnt supplied any discs with his laptop which he bought new is a bit dissapointing.

Any help would be greatfully received, if they had supplied him with any discs I would have just reinstalled Vista, but at the moment it is just running XP

the notebook is a MiTAC, can you look under the notebook for a label that shows the model, just post anything it shows.
