As an update since I posted the above, I found how to rename my computer, and the network printer showed up in the printer window automatically, but it still won't print, even though I have switched the default from the fax to the printer, and loaded the HP disc (even though the XP machine shows to have the drivers for the 2k machine loaded there so there shouldn't be a problem). When I try to print something, it only gives me the
fax as a possible to to send by. Both machines have the box checked to share printer in the networking set up.
So I still need help getting my computer to print, but it seems to know the printer now, even if it doesn't know where it is.
