you need to check a few things

first Windows audio service

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot

2nd it's High Definition audio and needs the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture or Microsoft UAA

check Device Manager / System Devices / should be listed - if not then get the Realtek audio with Microsoft UAA here from Gigabyte
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...t=xp#anchor_os

if that is right then you need to go into the BIOS to check if onboard audio set to [Auto]

as soon as comp boots press the <Del> key Main menu opens
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...-S3%20Main.JPG

use down arrow th select Integrated Peripherals - press Enter
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...Int%20Perp.JPG

Onboard Audio Function should be set to [Auto]

if [Disabled] use down arrow to select

+ key to change

F10 key to Save & Exit

y key to accept changes

XP will load

if needed install the Realtek audio driver from Gigabyte

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions
