New user of XP Everthing running Very Very Slow.
Just got a New Computer..
And I already know I need more memory... It is a 2 Gig processor. with only 128 of mem.. But it came with Windows XP wich I already Hate.. I run the same programs that I had an my 5 year old Computer ( Yes they are compatible I already checked.. ) And everything runs at a slow crawl. And frequently locks up.. Then I have to shut the whole computer down.. I have checked the Windows Task Manger.. It is always running Compaq connections.. (The Maker of the Computer) So I shut that down.. Then it says I have no actual Program's running.. But I look at the other Screen that says Processes running. It says I have 31 things running.. Some are under Owner Some are under System... I have noticed that if someone else in the family is logged on and doesnt log off it will leave some of there programs running.. So we made sure that is not happening anymore.. But my problem is I did know a little about win 98 to mess with settings, but nothing about XP. How do I know what processes I can shut down, and which one to leave alone.. I also have my Virus program running constantly. Which I would like to run only when I want it to run.. I cannot find away to stop it from running constantly.. Any help on all these 31 processes would be great.. is this normal for Win XP?
