I just upgraded to xp pro, but there is one serious snag that makes this os very difficult for me to use. I have a somewhat rare sensitivity to high contrasts or slow cycling light sources. The default monitor refresh rate in xp pro makes it difficult for me to read text on my screen or even look at it for very long. I'm using an NEC Accusync 75f. It supports a vertical refresh rate of up to 120 hz. I usually have it set to 85 or 100 hz, it has no problem with these settings. When I try to change my monitors default settings (60-75 hz vertical refresh) in xp pro's control panel\display\settings\advanced\monitor, I only get monitor default settings in the drop down box. I do not get an option to customise these settings. This is enough of a drag that I have downgraded to my old os for the time being. Is there some way to bypass xp pro's refusal to allow me to customise these settings? If not I'm just going to have to abandon it altogether.
