Thank you Grendel. I did that yesterday and received a blue screen at the end of shut down saying something about not enough disk space (Impossible----120gig HD just loaded).. and a few other messages taking about cache size and shadowing could be the problem also... (System has plenty of cache and a 2800+ AMD processor) so it should have nothing to do with cache or shadowing).. I wish I new the exact message but when I read it I knew it did not pertain to this problem. This message only occured when I unchecked the box labeled restart on system failure. I have since checked the box back but get the same message. Very frustrating. I checked BIOS and "restart after system failure" was DISABLED so that should not be the problem.
