To use the i386 folder setup routine (which is what you must do), you need to be in a windows environment. You can just try your restore cd.. but i dont think you will be 100% successful
Of course you can use xp pro instead, but you will need to perform an upgrade install. whenever xp needs files thereafter... the pro version of the cd will be required. The restore cd will be useless.
In my opinion, you would be better of with a full cd anyway, rather than restore cds.
