Moving User account password locked files between 2 operating systems on the same PC

Moving User account password locked files between 2 operating systems on the same PC??!!

Hi,

Sound confusing? Well it is.

Here's the deal.

I have some really important files on my PC for work that i ABSOLUTLEY CANNOT LOSE!!!

A couple of days ago windows XP crashed on my computer and when i rebooted it said that i would have to repair windows with the system cd.

I attempted that with no luck - something about a 'fatal error'. I cannot boot the original windows at all, but as i did not format the drive, i knew the files were still there.

Then a friend told me that is is possible to install another windows XP (having two operating systems on the same PC)and retrieve the files by accessing the documents and settings folder.

So i did this and installed a new version of windows (labeled "windows1") and it set up perfectly, and did not delete any of the docs and files from the corrupted windows.
I could view my wifes User Account and files - ie. through docs&setting etc with not problem at all.

I thought i had solved the problem. But...
I had a password User Account on the corrupted windows, and i am unable to access the files that i need in "windows1".

I can see them under my name in the Docs&Settings folder but, due to the user account password it says acsess denied when i try to get into it.

Does anyone know of a way of
a: changing the password from the corrupted windows, in the newly installed one?
or
b: if it is possible to somehow move the files from the corrupted windows to the newly installed windows without it saying acsess denied?

ANY HELP WOULD BE REWARDED WITH MONEY AND/OR CANDY!!!

Thanks
NM
