I know this is slightly random, but I once had a similar problem when installing Win2000.

I however had a graphics card installed. My monitor was connected to the graphics card and not the monitor output of the motherboard, so the setup came up fine, but my PC would only go as far as the Loading Windows Logo, then either freeze or go blanks.

I put the monitor back to the original output, and then installed everything, installed graphics card drivers and swapped back, it worked.

Just something to think about if you have a graphics card installed.
