if you are using the xp backup that comes with pro(can be added to home) it can make cd backups, but they are not very good(waste of cd disk). it does ok if you save to a hard drive. it would be better to get a copy of either norton ghost, or power quest drive image. they make bootable restore disk that you can actually use. there are many other good programs you could use, but those i know are good.
