Got your example and I can see the problem and know how to get rid of it but how it got there I don't know.

Set your Highlight Tool to none then Select the paragraph adjacent to the bullet and use the highlight tool to remove any highlights.

Next you need to reset you basic document template.

With Word closed do a System Search for

Normal.dot

Delete all occurences of the file that you find.

Next time you open Word it will rebuild the basic document template.

Then try another document with bullets and see how it goes.
