Befor i tell you what happened , ill tell you i have done this 3 times
sence i have had Windows XP. I play a lot of games on my xp system (gamer) , older games do NOT use the newest versions of Direct X they sometimes automattly install somethign like direct x 7. This is the problem in windows xp you can NOT reinstall direct x 8.1, microsoft says to get the latest service pack to obtail direct x 8.1. In other versions of windows you can simply download it from microsoft. I have reinstalled the service pack and i still have the same problem. I also UNinstalled SP1 and REinstalled it , still didnt work how can i replace Direct X 8.1 with out reformatting AGAIN !!!.
