Networking 2 XP machines - how?
I have a PC and a laptop both running windows XP home edition, and basically I want to network them as simple and cheap as possible.
Both the PC and the laptop have Ethernet adapters, and ports labbeled LAN on the rear. I've never done this before so im new to all of this but ive done a little searching and basically do I just need to go and purchase a cat5 cable and plug both ends in? and then run the network connection wizard in XP on the PC? - or is there more I have to do?
The setup im hoping to achive is like so:
ADSL Modem-----PC (with printer)-----Laptop
The laptop wont be plugged in all the time, basically I will just plug the laptop in when I either need to transfer files or connect to the internet or print something. (yes im fully aware I will have to have the PC turned on for the laptop to do this)
I dont want to have to buy anything expensive.... for something simple like this what sort of cable will I exactly need?
Help will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks.

I wonder if there is big red switch that turns the internet on and off?
