I have had svchost chewing up resources for years, but I will be downloading those spyware checkers just in case.
Another prog that causes problems is ccApp.exe (part of Norton Anti Virus / Internet security) I have had that holding as close to 100% cpu on a newly built machine. I have changed that machine to PC-cilin (although NAV on three other machines seems to be ok).
