Taskbar slow to load/no system tray icons/logon and off problems
1) The problem occurs when XP pro is starting up. I only have 1 user account and so it boots past the welcome screen straight to the desktop.
The desktop background and icons appear along with the taskbar with the clock but no system tray icons. When I hover over the taskbar I get the hourglass pointer and I am unable to use the startmenu or quicklaunch bar for 10secs or so while it finishes loading. Because the taskbar is 'buissy' none of my system tray icons ever appear and i get messages from the programs stating "could not create system tray icon".
I have done a complete reformat although the problem returns once all my software is installed. I am running Zone Alarm, Avast antivirus and Weblocker internet filter and i believe it is one of these processes that is causing the problem.
Has anyone experienced this? Anyone got any suggestions? I tried using a boot manager to delay the loading of these programs untill the taskbar is loaded but some of them were loaded through the registry and so that didnt work.
2) I also have a problem logging on and off or returning from standby as I get a blue screen saying:
> STOP: C000021a (Fatal System Error)
> The Windows Logon process terminated unexpectedly with a
> status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000)
> The system has shut down.
might be related? i have updated all my device drivers and checked device manager for problems incase something was stopping me going into standby or logging off but found no problems. Any ideas on this issue?
SORRY FOR SUCH A LONG POST!!! THANKS FOR READING IT! Hope you can help.
