Then your still booting off the old on

Something is not setup right physically.

Make sure your new harddrive that you want to be C is actually the primary drive set to MASTER

and that the older drive is set to SLAVE

This is of course if they are on the same IDE cable

If they are on separate ones, make sure the new drive is set to MASTER and plugged into the PRIMARY IDE port

and that the older drive is MASTER or SLAVE on the SECONDARY IDE port.
