I don't mention any problems regarding adware/spyware in P2P client programs because P2P programs often involve "illegal" downloading of programs and multimedia.
My best suggestion to you is to remove the incriminating software and run the spyware scanners again. Legit programs are the best way to go in terms of not having problems. Many "programs" that you may download from these P2P clients will be infected themselves and will cause you more headaches than solutions.
I did mention that Kazaa, one of the most well known P2P clients, is completely filled with various types of spyware.
Everything that you own becomes much, much better when you've actually worked to buy it.
