I upgraded an older P3 computer to XP Home. It worked fine until the HP PS2 mouse shot craps. I put a new usb wheel mouse on it and it seemed to work fine for a few days then my wife started complaining that it would freeze up for a time and then start working again. I put a usb optical mouse on it and it works the same way. I am now using that same mouse on my notebook....no problems. I then put a PS2 wheel mouse on the desktop and still have the same problems.

Sometimes it freezes for up to 3 minutes. The mouse cursor will not move but the scroll wheel does and so do the right and left buttons. Any ideas?
