This is only a suggestion Satfanni, however, webcam's usually connect to your puter via USB.
Surely, in theory, anyway, you should be able to obtain a
very long connection lead that will go from the USB connector at the end of the webcam, to the USB socket at the back of your puter upstairs. This would also bypass the puter downstairs.
Hope that made sense.
