Thumbs down Probs sharing internet connection

Guys and Gals !

I am just about out of patience... for days I have been trying to share the broadband dsl connection of my WinXP prof. server with my WinXP home laptop. Both registered versions, LAN connection working fine, dynamic IPs, Norton Internet Security working fine (prob. persists even while NIS is deactivated), dsl connection working fine on the server.

only... I canīt connect to the internet from my laptop.

Iīve tried just about any logical combination, set up manually and using the wizard, used network installation disks, tried static IPs, even deinstalled NIS - nothing works...
In another network I run, very similar combinations work fine just by activating the "share this connection" checkbox!

Does anybody have an idea, what and in which order I could try?

Please... save my hair and the remains of my mind !

Greetings from Germany!
Thilo
