I have the same problem. WINXP will not shut down.

The blue screen says:

I. Check to make sure new hardware or software is properly installed. ( I have checked and there are no errors in Hardware, Device Manager. )

II. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

III. Stop: 0x0000000A (0x000002CC, 0x000000FF, 0x00000000, 0x804E3B58)

I resort to turning off the 120VAC to the machine when the blue screen shows.

Any suggestions?

I will note here that I have given up on any anti virus program. I have made an image (Norton Ghost 7) of my machine.

I make updates to the system, hardware and software only after restoring this image. I immediately make a new image of the updates and keep the old image for 14 days in case of a problem.

I keep any important information on a Compact Flash card and restore my computer image every morning.

I use Pestpatrol and Zeroads during the daily activities to stop my computer from bogging down. This has eliminated all of the adds, cookies Trojans and popups from interfering with my daily activities.

Thank you,

Mikeguen
