I was having the same exact problem with a client's small office network. XP computer A could see B's shares, but B couldn't see A's shares, although they both pinged each other just fine. I concluded it was a problem with guest or everyone share permissions but XP Home doesn't give you any tools to fix this. After 3 days of tedious troubleshooting, even Microsoft tech support couldn't solve the problem. So I went to Google and found this thread.
