I have the same problem. WINXP will not shut down.
I'm getting this message in a blue screen:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Stop: 0x0000000A (0x000002CC, 0x000000FF, 0x00000000, 0x804E3B58)

Any advise for the fix will be greatly appreciated. Thank you much.
