Question WinXP Pro Adv File Sharing problem

I've got 3 computers networked. Two are running WinXP Professional and the other one is running Windows 98SE.

I know how to setup a simple network, and incase I was doing anything wrong I've followed numerous XP Pro File Sharing guides.

And as long as I have the WinXP machines setup with "Simple File Sharing" Enabled I have no problem accessing the XP shares from the Win98 machine.

If I disable the "Simple File Sharing" and enable the Guest account, and have the sharing and security settings for my shared folders all set correctly I can no longer access the WinXP shares from the Win98.

I know that I could setup local accounts on the WinXP machines to match the Win98 machine login but I don't want to do that. I wish to be able to have the network setup so that if I plug in another computer running Win98 then it can access the WinXP machines shares using their guest account. But at the moment I can only do that if I have "Simple File Sharing" enabled.

Does anyone know why this is and how to overcome it?
