I always make 2 partitions. 1 for windows and a 2nd partition for my programs and data files. The nice thing about keeping them separate is that your windows partition doesn't get fragmented as you use your computer. When you defrag your data partition, you don't have to worry about the page file or any file being open. Your system will run a lot better too.
