It could be a sound card incompatibility with the motherboard seeing as they are connected to each other - that would describe why it's freezing, maybe the speakers are wierd or faulty. This is common for the onew with about 8 speakers and subwoofers instead of the bog standard 2 that come out of the box. I have the more complicated type with subwoofer and everything, but only 2 of the 8 speakers work!!
