I went to the device manager and there are 6 "!" on the following:
Microsoft Kernel ACoustic Echo CAnceller
Microsoft Kernel DLS synthesizer
Microsoft Kernel DRM Audio scrambler
Microsoft Kernel WAve Audio mixer
MPU-401 Compatible Media device
SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
I go to the properties of the SoundMAX integrated Digital Audio and here's what's under the following tabs:
General tab: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Properties tab: I click on media mixers and it states no active media mixer devices
Driver tab: Two of the files are not digitally signed
Resources tab: This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem.
I have a feeling my on board sound device went back, but not sure how, by just moving my computer to a diff. room. I will probably have to purchase and install a new sound card.
I am using Windows XP Home version 2002, SP 2 on an HP Pavilion MX50.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
