Win XP Professional
If it's SP2 try disbaling temporarily the Software friewall in SP2 in control panel. Then try reinstalling the printer again. See if it works.

-nework connection working, i.e. able to communicate between computers and share internet connection
When I try to set up the printer on the notebook, I begin the set up wizard, choose network printer and browse for available printers. The desktop is shown with the lexmark printer. I select the lexmark printer, give an OK to the license screen, then get the message that I will need to restart the computer after printer setup. When I click OK to this notice, I get the following:
"Windows cannot connect to the printer. Either the printer name was typed incorrectly or the specified printer has lost its connection to the server."
Strange, in that the network is apparently seeing the printer, and its name.
There is a second desktop on this network with a direct connection to the router that has no problem with accessing the network printer.
Any ideas of what may be stopping the notebook from setting up the network printer?
Thanks in advance for any help.
