About a week ago, I discovered I must renew my ip address (ipconfig /renew) after each bootup, or else I cannot connect to the Internet. I put the ipconfig command in the startup directory so this takes place automatically, but I'm wondering why this happened in the first place.

The only change I made in my pc was to get VPN access to our network at the office, and the lack of connection applies to that, too, unless I renew.

I'm using WinXP Home, a Linksys BEFW11S4 router, and a Toshiba cable modem.

The other PCs in my home use wireless networking, and do not have this problem.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting??
