I have successfully formatted windows xp on many occasions but have been unsuccesful on my latest attempts.

The problem is, I boot up my computer with the XP cd rom in the drive and press any key to boot from the XP cd rom as prompted. It tells me it is gathering files and the usual blue screen appears with 'Windows setup' at the top of the page.

The problem is, the usual user agreement that normally appears underneath 'Windows setup' that you agree to by pressing F8 I believe, does not appear

I have tried several things.

I am able still to operate windows, but it is overdue a reformat.

Anyone any ideas?

I have tried restoring failsafe defaults, system restore, uninstalling SP1, changing boot sequence, different XP cd etc and I have run out of ideas,

It's a long shot but have you tried a System File Check, go to Run / type "sfc /scannow"( without quotes and note space after sfc) have Win CD available in case sfc needs to replace or repair any files. Amother thought a Reapair Install may work see here http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
