Got mine the other day and it had a update date as of Febuary marked on it. Seems the date is reflective of when it's sent out. Also, it took 3 to 4 weeks for me to get it here in New York.

There are probably different distributions centers. Australians and some Europeans got the disk within days of it being released. U.S. users seem to be the last to get it.

i have been able to set up all but 2k with the cd since i got it, it does lack many things that should have been included. net framework that was mentioned on the article from the link above is not something 90% of home users will ever need. it also freaks out many people when they find the user account it makes. as for the big list of updates for 98 most are language packs for ie which are better to download when needed and not have a bunch of mess you will never use clogging up the drive, like time zones and fonts do already. the etrust firewall and anti virus are a good thing for people who dont know what and where to download one, or have a out-of-date subscription and can not update the one they have anymore. the firewall is zone alarm, it gives you a free one and like mentioned in the article you can get a 15 day free trial of the pro. the anti virus is one of the worst i have ever tried. it's user interface is very hard to understand, hard to find the update feature and the layout is just bad. in my opinion the free AVG is far better. if you have nothing else, use it. if you know your way around the net, get sygate or kerio firewall and AVG anti virus.
